Berkeley George Andrew Moynihan, 1st Baron Moynihan, was born in Malta. He was Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Leeds, 1910-1925, and Professor of Surgery, 1925-1927. He specialised in abdominal, gastric and pancreatic surgical techniques. From 1925 to 1931 he was President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He was appointed KB, 1912; CB, 1917; KCMG, 1918; Baronet, 1922 and Baron in 1929
