His father Tudor Evans (1877-1944), who was born in Carmarthen, served in the Boer War and the First World War and worked as a postmaster in Exmouth, in Tonbridge in Kent, and from 1932 onwards in Grimsby. Morris's mother Edith Mary Organ (1878-1932), was born in Cheltenham in 1878 and married Tudor in 1907. Tudor Evans married Hilda Brewer as his second wife in Louth, Lincolnshire, in 1937.

Dr Evans qualified as a medical practitioner in 1933 and took further medical degrees at St Thomas's Hospital in London. After a brief period working at Addenbrooke's College in Cambridge, he joined the general practice at Baslow, Derbyshire, in 1935. In the same year he married Mary Walmesley, the sister of one of his childhood friends. Dr Evans worked at Baslow until his retirement in 1978, working additionally at the 1914/18 War Memorial Hospital in Bakewell and Newholme geriatric hospital. He was an honorary tutor in General Practice at the University of Sheffield, accepting students on work placements at the practice. For this aspect of his work, Dr Evans was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1980. Dr Evans died in July 2001.

Dr Evans' practice at Baslow was formerly occupied by Dr E.M. Wrench. Evans was aware of Dr Wrench's papers at the University of Nottingham, and wished his own papers to be deposited to maintain a continuity on the history of the practice. Like Wrench, Dr Evans was interested in local history. He edited 'A short history of Baslow and Bubnell, 1975', by John Sheldon, which was privately published in 1986, and often spoke on local history and other issues.
