Scope and Content

There are 11 notebooks and a few reprints in this collection. The notebooks have the following titles:

There is a note by Geoffrey Keynes, March 1958: This box contains some of the MS Entomological Diaries kept by my father, Dr. J.N. Keynes, in the course of forming the collection of European butterflies given by me to the University Dept. Zoology in March 1958.

Administrative / Biographical History

John Neville Keynes was a Fellow of Pembroke College. He was Lecturer in Moral Science at the University of Cambridge 1883-1911 and Registrar 1910-1911. He was interested in insects and went to Europe to collect specimens with his son in the first part of the 20th century.

His son, Geoggrey Langdon Keynes, was a surgeon at St Bartholomew's College, London.

Access Information

Manuscripts can be consulted on appointment only. The Museum of Zoology is open Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 17:00 pm. Access and reproduction is at the discretion of the Archivist.

Acquisition Information

The collection was donated to the Museum by Geoffrey Langdon Keynes in 1958 together with specimens of butterflies.
