Administrative / Biographical History
Wilfred Nixon (b. 1882 in Workington), a Private, 17th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment, served on the Western Front. He was captured on 28 Apr. 1917 and held as a POW (Prisoner of War) at Friedricksfeld and Oberhausen. He was goalkeeper for Fulham Football Club at the outbreak of the First World War, also playing for Queen's Park Rangers before serving in France.
