Administrative / Biographical History

Hugh Craig Brown was born on 18 February 1911 and grew up in Glasgow. He took a three-year teacher training course at the Scottish School of Physical Education and Hygiene (later known as the Scottish School of Physical Education), based at the Glasgow Provincial Training College (later known as Jordanhill College), from session 1933-1934 to session 1935-1936. After gaining his diploma in June 1936, he obtained his first post as a teacher of physical education in Peterhead. Brown returned to the Scottish School of Physical Education in 1953 as its Director, retiring in 1974.
