Scope and Content

In consideration of an undisclosed sum, Thomas Kinge of Great Eversden, husbandman, conveys to his son Robert Kinge, of the same place, husbandman, an acre of arable land, with its appurtenances, currently occupied by Thomas, lying in the common fields of Great Eversden. One selion of this land extends for two furlongs and contains three rods. It lies in Whyte Hill furlong, between the lord of the manor's land and land of Warren Adam to the north, and the lord of the manor's land to the south, one head abutting on further land of Warren Adam to the west, and the other on the common pasture to the east. The other (sic) rod lies in Fulbrooke Feeld between land of the lord to the south and land of Thomas Kinge to the north, one head abutting on Fulbrooke, the other on land of the said Thomas Kinge. The lands are held by Kinge through the gift of Thomas and John Wrenne of Haddenham, as will appear by a deed dated 20 Jan 1 Mary I, and are to be held by Robert of the Queen as of her manor of East Greenwich in Kent, in free socage, and not in chief. Kinge further appoints Nicholas Maye, husbandman, as his attorney to deliver seisin. Red round seal. Endorsed with certificate of livery of seisin on the day following, witnessed by Edmund Mentill, clerk, William Scot, ?Henry ?Wiltu' and others. Further endorsed in a contemporary hand: 'Eversdon', and in pencil: 13'.
