Scope and Content

The material consists of manuscripts of Common Sense Truths, 1844, A Picture of Christian Philosophy, 1798, and notes for a projected work on religion or philosophy, written by Robert Fellows.

Administrative / Biographical History

Born in 1771, Fellows was educated at St Mary Hall, Oxford, where he received a BA in 1796 and an MA in 1801. He published A Picture of Christian Philosophy of Illustration of the Character of Jesus in 1798. From 1804-1811 he edited Critical Review. Fellows wrote and lectured on politics and religion. In 1826 he gave benefactions to encourage the study of philosophy at Edinburgh University and at London University (now University College London). He died in London on 6th February 1847.
