Administrative / Biographical History
Doris Gunnell was educated at Skipton Girls' High School and the University of Leeds, where she studied for a degree in Modern Languages, from 1902 to 1905. After a period of study abroad and having gained a doctorate in Paris, she lectured for a time in Cardiff. In 1910 Dr. Gunnell returned to the University of Leeds, and was appointed Lecturer in 1920; then Senior Lecturer from 1938 until retirement in 1949
