The collection contains copies of hand written, unpublished articles on the subject of houses inArnold, Nottinghamshire. The first item relates to 83-93, Nottingham Road, Arnold, Nottinghamshire,a group of artisans' dwellings from the mid-nineteenth century. It was compiled in March 1972 byM.W. Spick and G.J. Parkes. The article has a short introduction, which includes some biographicalevidence about M.W.Spick, who lived at 83 Nottingham Road. The bulk of the work consists ofannotated sketches of plans, elevations and views of the houses. The second item relates to MoiraHouse, Front Street, Arnold and was compiled in 1976 by M.W. Spick, G. Parkes and Mr B. Worville,just before the house was demolished to make way for a supermarket. The article contains plans,original photographic prints and typescript historical notes.

Administrative / Biographical History
Maurice William Spick, who lived in Arnold, published a number of books on the subject of Arnoldand Bestwood, Nottinghamshire. Mr G. Parkes was also, apparently, a local resident in Daybrook,Arnold in the 1970s, with an interest in local history.
