Administrative / Biographical History

Maureen Evershed and her husband Barry were founder members of the Bromsgrove and North Worcestershire Conservation Society in the early 1970s. Their interest in such issues as pollution, nuclear power and overpopulation brought them into contact with like-minded people including Keith Hudson of Coventry, who founded and edited 'Towards survival' "as a discussion journal hoping to see the emergence of radical ideas for the sustainable, non-growth society." It was published usually monthly between July 1972 and March 1975, when it ceased publication because of rising costs.
