In 1963 Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd, shipbuilders and engineers, acquired the assets and goodwill of Simons-Lobnitz Ltd, which had itself been formed by the merger of William Simons & Co Ltd, shipbuilders, with Lobnitz & Co Ltd, shipbuilders, in 1959.
