Administrative / Biographical History

Watson Laidlaw & Co was established in 1883 as an associated company of Mirrlees Watson & Co. The firm was based at Dundas Street, Glasgow, Scotland, and was responsible for developing Mirrlees Watson's interest in centrifugal machines, following their purchase of David McColley Weston's patent. The company specialised in manufacturing centrifugal machines, hydro-extractors and separators for the sugar, dairy, chemical, laundry and textile industries.

Watson Laidlaw & Co became a private company in 1907 and was made public in 1949. The company was still in operation until at least the 1960s, however no longer exists today.
