The papers were generated in the course of research for Politicians and policies: an essay on politics in Acholi, Uganda, 1962-1965, by C. T. Leys (Nairobi: East Africa Pub., 1967).

Professor Colin T. Leys (b 1931) was Professor of Politics at the University of Sussex and then a Fellow of the Institute of Development Studies, and has published widely on politics in both sub-Saharan Africa and Britain.
