Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The National Union of Gold, Silver and Allied Trades was formed in 1914 by the merger of the Amalgamated Society of Gold, Silver and Kindred Trades and the Birmingham Silversmiths' and Electroplate Operatives' Society. In 1969 it absorbed the Society of Goldsmiths, Jewellers and Kindred Trades. In 1981 it became part of the Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers (Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Section).
