Born out of the Linemen's Movements in the 1870s, the Postal Telegraph and Linemen's Movement was established in 1887. In 1901 the Movement merged with the Amalgamated Association of the Postal Telegraph Engineering Department to form the Post Office Engineering and Stores Association.
