Scope and Content

In 1843, Robert Negus conveyed to John Hodson of Wisbech St Peters, Cambridgeshire, gent, his life interest in 17 acres 'fen or marsh ground' in Cranemoor, Manea, Cambridgeshire to secure #188 advanced him by Hanslip Palmer of Upwell, Cambridgeshire, gent (Doc 3774, 3775). In 1846, Hodson mortgaged for #50 his own interest in the property to Palmer (Doc 3776). Interest payments have been maintained. In consideration of the principal money owed to Palmer, and in further consideration of #61, Hodson conveys the freehold in the said lands to Palmer, together with two life insurance policies valued at #299. Indenture, signed and sealed by Hodson, witnessed by Samuel and Mary Archer; duty stamps. Endorsed with receipt for consideration money, same date and signatures. Parchment supplied by John Smith of Long Acre, engraving by Silvester of The Strand.
