Collection of Material relating to Alexander Robb (1752-1806)

The material consists of the History of the Reformation with a watermark date of 1794, and Philosophy of religion; or, an historical inquiry concerning the origin of the religious opinions and ceremonies of savage nations. There is a portrait of Robb on the pastedown of Vol1. of this work.

Alexander Robb was born in 1752 and was the brother of William Robb (d. 1797) who was Minister of the Parish of Tongland and Balnacross. Alexander Robb acted as his assistant and was presented to the Presbytery of Kirkcudbright by George III. Robb was ordained in August 1797, the year of his brother's death. He became Minister of the Parish of Tongland and Balnacross in succession to his brother. He made a long visit to the Continent, journeying in France and Italy. Robb is said to have made some improvements to the weaving loom. Alexander Robb died on 26 June 1806.
