Administrative / Biographical History
A.J. Heal founded the Boy's Section of the Western Valleys Miners' Union in 1900. He was voluntary assistant to William Harris, the Miners' Political Officer in Monmouthshire and financial secretary to the West Monmouthshire Labour Party in 1905. A.J. Heal was later elected as Chairman of the Bedwelty Board of Guardians and Leader of the Labour Group in 1910. He was financial secretary of the Abertillery Parliamentary Diviosion 1918-1921.
