Administrative / Biographical History

Gladys D. New (b. 1896 at Birkenhead) was educated at Liverpool University. She served as a volunteer at a British Red Cross hospital at Latchford, near Warrington, in 1915, and at Myrtle Auxiliary Hospital, Liverpool, in 1918. She also undertook agricultural work in 1916 and 1918. She was a geography teacher at Leeds Girls High School during the Second World War, and also volunteered as a fire fighter.
