Administrative / Biographical History

William Joseph Cooper was born in London, 4th October, 1902. During the period covered by these records he held the following posts: labour manager at the Royal Ordnance Factory in Bridgend, Oct 1941-Sep 1943; personnel and welfare controller at the Ministry of Aircraft Production factory run by Morris Motors in Llanelly, Sep 1943-1947; personnel manager at Morris Motors Limited, Radiators Branch, Osberton Works, Oxford, 1947-Dec 1948; labour manager for the Rover Company Ltd at Lode Lane, Solihull and at Acocks Green, Sep 1949-1967, when he also became involved in the Birmingham Association of the Engineering and Allied Employers' National Federation. He was also a keen sportsman, playing cricket, soccer and bowls. He died in 1981.
