Whereas by Indenture dated 30 March 1814 the Master and Fellows of Jesus College let to Thomas Cole of Cambridge certain lands in Cambridge for a term of forty years; and whereas Thomas Cole was desirous of selling the premises erected by him thereon and applying the money in discharge of a loan made him by Anthony Foreman then of Cambridge, and a licence was granted by the Master, Fellows and Scholars for temporary assignment; and whereas on the application of Thomas Cole the Master, Fellows and Scholars have granted a Licence of Alienation; and whereas Thomas Cole put up the premises for sale and William Martin of Cambridge was declared to be the highest bidder; now Thomas Cole, with the consent of the Master and Fellows, assigns to William Martin the property in question for the remainder of the term. Witnessed by Thomas Smith and John Palmer. On the back is a receipt for the purchase-money signed by Thomas Cole. Witnessed by same. Parts of the two seals remain.
