Those towards the beginning and end are painted. Inside the front cover is 'Saml. Sandars 1889 Chalfont Bucks. 7 De Vere Gardens W. Trin. Coll. Camb. A.M.' and the bookplate of William Constable. On the flyleaf is a note by S. Sandars of the contents 'From Burton Constable Library Yorkshire Sold June 1889'.
