Consists of: 

  • Photocopy of the transcript of a biography of Jane Henrietta Adeane by Violet Isabel Martineau, written c. 1934. The work contains many references to the Stanley family and to Penrhos and extracts from family letters.
  • Pedigree of the Bulkeley family of Baron Hill compiled by Jane Henrietta Adeane, c. 1920-1926

Administrative / Biographical History

Jane Henrietta Adeane (1842-1926) of Plas Llanfawr, Holyhead, Anglesey, north Wales was a member of the Penrhos family of Holyhead. She was the granddaughter of Sir John Thomas Stanley (1776-1850), 1st Baron Stanley of Penrhos, Holyhead and sister of William Owen Stanley (1802-1884). Violet Isabel Martineau (1865-1948) was Jane Adeane's niece, the daughter of her sister Louisa Mabel.

Arrangement

Material was received on separate occasions, arranged in chronological order and incorporated into the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts .
