Music manuscripts comprising Solfeggi by Fedele Fenaroli (1730-1818) and unrecorded works by Luigi Confidati (1772-1847), c.1780s-c.1820

Scope and Content

The volume comprises the following; Solfeggi by Fedele Fenaroli (1730-1818) and unrecorded works by Luigi Confidati (1772-1847), the title on the binding reads 'BASSETTI E SOLFEGG'. It is a suite of five manuscripts, all bound together, containing almost 300 pages of material that relate to the solfeggio tradition, a music education method of melody study.

The manuscripts are:

2) Esercizio - Per la Voce [soprano]

3) Solfeggi - In Chiave di Soprano - Del Sig.r Luigi Confidati [solo soprano voice]

4) Sedici Solfeggi - A voce sola di Soprano - Del Sig.r Luigi Confidati [soprano and bass]

5) Solfeggi - A voce sola e Basso - Del Sig.R D. Fedele Fenaroli [these same solfeggi appear in I-BcNN.21]

Manuscripts 1-4 c.1800-1820 and manuscripts 5, originally written between 1762-1777, c.1780s.

Administrative / Biographical History

Fedele Fenaroli (1730-1818) was an Italian composer and teacher, born in Lanciano. He entered the Conservatorio di Santa Maria di Loreto, one of the Music conservatories of Naples, becoming a pupil of Francesco Durante. Luigi Confidati (1772-1847) was an Italian composer.
