Scope and Content

John Quilton of Royston for the securing of a certain sum due to him from John Gatward the younger of Cambridge and due to Thomas Darling of Baldock, Hertfordshire, as rent for certain land in Bassingbourn and Melbourn, Cambridgeshire, and in Therfield and Barkway Hertfordshire, sells to John Gatward certain property and certain crops in fields in the above parishes to his use for ever; John Quilton also leases to John Gatward the land in the above parishes on which the crops are growing for the term of two months at a peppercorn rent. If John Quilton pays a certain sum by a certain date the agreement is to be void. Witnesses: Thomas Willey, William Dennis. One seal is attached.
