Administrative / Biographical History

The company was formed in June 1936 to acquire the business of the Main Transport Company of W J and Mrs B E Davis. There were close working relationships with the Ham Wharfage Company Limited, which loaned Main £1000 in 1936 and managed Main's Lorries. The business of A G Holmes with one lorry and trailer was acquired in 1937. The company was later acquired by the national road haulage and warehousing company, the Transport Development Group.

These records were deposited in 1986 by the advisory service of the Business Archives Council, which had acquired them in 1985.
