Includes material on United States politicians (including Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Grover Cleveland, W. J. Bryan, William McKinley, John Sherman, Samuel J. Tilden, A.S. Hewitt, D. B. Hill, A. B. Parker, C (Carl?) Schurz), taxation, tariffs, the press, labour issues, the navy. Also includes personalia of Manton Marble.

Administrative / Biographical History

Manton Marble was born in Massachusetts on 16 November 1835. He joined the Evening Post in 1858, having moved to New York. He was the proprietor and editor of the New York World, 1862-1876. Nine years later he travelled to Europe as a delegate at the Bi-Metallic Congress.
