Ernest Robert Sorrell was born at Chelmsford, Essex in 1897. As a Lance Corporal, 5th and 13th Battalions, London Regiment, 1915-1918, he served at Salonika. He was invalided out of the Army with malaria in 1918 and worked with the Ministry of Munitions in London.
