The diaries comprise 140 pages (Greece and the Aegean), and 112 pages (Germany, Austria and Italy). The volume on travels through Germany, Austria and Italy is illustrated.

These are two diaries of European travels undertaken by Sir William Gell through Greece, Italy, Germany and Austria. They are not day-by-day recounts, but are rather rewritten after the events from notes taken at the time.
