Administrative / Biographical History

The author was surgeon to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital from 1826 to the time of his death. He had been elected F.R.S. in 1836, and was an original Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1843.

Some of these cases are included in 'Cases in Midwifery', 1851, complied by Edward Copeman (1809-1880). A biography entitled 'A surgeon in the early 19th century' was published by his great-granddaughter, V.M. Crosse, in 1968.
