The Paper Machine Wire Exporters' Association was formed at a meeting on 16 November 1956  with the object of "the consideration of matters concerning the manufacture, supply and delivery of paper machine wires and other broadloom cloth by export from the United Kingdom. The Association may arrange prices and conditions of sale by export and may make arrangements with other parties with regard thereto". The association held annual international meetings in cities such as Nice, France, Stockholm, Sweden, Munich, Germany, and San Remo, Italy. The association was dissolved with effect from 31 December 1976  .
