Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Mr Jones was born in South Wales. At the age of 5 he lived at Wenn Bach, later moving to Bryn Bedw, Betws-yn-Rhos, and then at Ty Brith. He attended the village school and worked on local farms. In 1918 he enlisted in the Welsh Regiment and saw action for one month in the Dardanelles.
As part of his 100th birthday celebrations he was invited to address the children at the school. He was a shy bachelor, but became a celebrity in his old age.
