Administrative / Biographical History

The River Boards Act 1948, provided that the whole of England and Wales should be covered by water boards. The Pembrokeshire Water Board was active between 1948 and 1974. The Water Board took over the powers under existing legislation of catchment boards, fishing boards and pollution prevention authorities.
