Scope and Content

In consideration of #2,080 to Roger Lee esq of Clapham, Surrey (3rd party, for redeeming a rent charge on the property in question, Lee's trustee being John Lee of Southwark, gent, 4th party), and of a further #2,770 to Charles Calvert of Upper Thames St, London, brewer, James Searle of Saffron Walden, Essex, banker, and William Thurnall of Whittlesford, Cambridgeshire, maltster (1st parties), at the request of Richard Blow of Whittlesford, maltster (2nd party with Mary, his wife), Calvert, Searle, and Thurnall, as trustees under Doc 1751, release some 110 acres of freehold land in Hale Fen, Coveney and Witcham (part of Bedford Level Lot 13 No 3) with a farm house, to Daniel Hamiul of Bryanston St, St Marylebone (5th party). Hamiul's trustee to avoid any dower claim is Capt John Thompson RN (6th party). In further consideration of #150, Richard Blow covenants to surrender c2 acres of copyhold land called Cow Croft, with foldage for 200 sheep, held of the manor of Witcham, also to the use of Daniel Hamiul. Blow has failed to repay his creditors, for whom Calvert, Searle and Thurnall are acting, as specified in Doc 1751. 18/19 Nov 1811, lease (for one year at peppercorn rent of the freehold property), signed and sealed by Calvert, Searle, Thurnall and Richard Blow, witnessed by John ?Allen of Clifford's Inn, Thomas Wilson of 13 Cumberland St, Portman Square, ?Thomas Searle, John Wallis, clerk to Messrs Nash, Son and Wedd of Royston, William Gee, Samuel Peed (clerk to Messrs Lee of Cambridge, attorneys), and Nathaniel Lyon (clerk to [Edward] Randall of Cambridge, attorney), duty stamp. Release in form of six-part indenture of 7 pages, signed by Calvert, Searle, Thurnall, Richard and Mary Blow, Roger and John Lee, Hamiul, and Thompson, additional witness to above: John Holloway, clerk to John Lee, duty stamps, some pencilled interlineations. Three endorsed receipts for consideration monies. Endorsed as entered in the Bedford Level Company register, 16 Jan 1812
