The volume contains transcriptions of Elkanah Wales's sermons. There is an inscription written in ink on the inside front cover 'e libris Rad. Thoresby de Leedes'. A list of sermons given by Wales in the vicinity of Leeds has been written in ink on the front flyleaf.

Elkanah Wales was a non-conformist preacher born in Idle, Bradford. He was a minister in Pudsey, Leeds. Wales died in Leeds on 10th May 1669.
