This collection contains: council and executive committee meeting minutes, agenda and papers, 1968, 1972-1974; reports of proceedings of conferences and the central committee of the Discharged Prisoners' Aid Societies, 1893-1918; NADPAS annual reports and accounts, 1933-1963; annual reports of regional, city and religious prisoners' aid societies, 1887-1964; statements of accounts, 1957-1966; subject files and other records, 1937-1974; prison welfare department reports, 1957-1966; files of Lord Donaldson of Kingsbridge, successively secretary, chairman and president, 1961-1978; records concerning membership, 1960-1966, and appointment of director, 1973; 'Frontsheet', 1974-1976, and other NADPAS/NACRO publications, 1948-1970; other organisations' publications, 1936-1966.

Administrative / Biographical History

The National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders derives from the Central Committee of Discharged Prisoners' Aid Societies, later the Central Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society, then the National Association of Discharged Prisoners' Aid Societies. The aim of the organisation was to provide assistance and support to those released from prison.
