Mr R. E. Vaughan Roberts, the depositor of these essays, was the Headmaster of Llanarmon-yn-Il School, Denbighshire. He lived at Llys Athro in Llanarmon-yn-Il. It is unclear whether he is the author of these essays, hiding behind the pseudonym, Tomos ap y Dryw Bach.
