University of Manchester Exam Papers Collection

Scope and Content

The collection comprises what is believed to be a complete set of University examination papers (including the Faculty of Technology) for the period 1912-1999. Examination papers were organised by Faculty, and within this by subject, and degree type (honours, ordinary etc.). Before 1912, University examination papers were published in the annual Calendars. Post -1999 exam papers are maintained digitally. The exam papers are a useful source of information for studies of academic testing and assessment at the University. Exam papers can be related to other teaching and learning records such as curricula, syllabi, and minutes of Faculty boards to provide a more detailed view of assessment procedures. The University Archives does not hold or collect examination scripts.
