Glan Padarn Poetry

Scope and Content

Songs, poems and elegies of Glan Padarn, several of which appear to have been entered in Eisteddfod competitions.

Also, miscellaneous notebooks containing the numbers of quarrymen who received various publications, Cyfaill yr Aelwyd, Cerddor y Cymry, Y Genhinen, Y Faner, 1884-1885, also notes on Eisteddfodau, their competition topics and prizes and a list of subscribers to Odlau Padarn.

Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas D. Thomas, also known as Glan Padarn, was born in 1848. He is described by the original cataloguer of his work as a good rural poet and a natural at composing songs and setting them to music. He was a prolific writer of elegies and a collection of his work was published in 1878 called, Odlau Padarn. He died in 1888.
