Scope and Content

This collection contains: memorandum as to constitution and objects and rules of steel plate and steel angle sections, nd; Plate Section regulations concerning pricing and trading, 1898-1916; Angle Section regulations and instructions concerning pricing and trading, 1905-1916; signed minutes, 1908-1959; copy minutes and papers of meetings with shipbuilders, 1937-1959; Angle Section members' ledgers, 1906-1939; quarterly reports and position of contracts, 1908-1925.

Administrative / Biographical History

The North East Coast Steel Makers' Association was formed in 1908 by the amalgamation of the Steel Platemakers' Association and the North-East District Steel Angle Makers' Association. From 1 May 1959 it amalgamated with the Scottish Steel Makers' Association to form the North East Coast and Scottish Steel Makers' Association.
