Administrative / Biographical History

The Amalgamated Farriers Society was established in 1891. It amalgamated with the Midlands' Farriers' Society in September 1898 to become the National Amalgamated Farriers' Society. This later joined with the Permanent Amalgamated Farriers' Protection Society, the Glasgow Journeymen Horseshoers' Union and the City of Liverpool Farriers Society to become the Amalgamated Society of Farriers in 1903.
