Administrative / Biographical History
CHE evolved from the North-Western Homosexual Law Reform Committee, founded in 1963, and became a national organisation in 1969. It fights for: acceptance of homosexual and bisexual people by society as fully entitled to lead their lives openly; social and legal equality between all men and women; reform of laws which deny this equality; the eradication of the prejudice and hostility faced by the homosexual; the creation of social meeting places where homosexual men and women and heterosexual men and women may gather in a congenial atmosphere. The Lancaster and Morecambe branch of CHE was founded in 1975.
