Correspondence, reports, memoranda, etc., relating to Colonial Administrative Service in Nigeria and the Cameroons (1935-1945); and in the Western Pacific High Commission (1946-1951), including notes on the history, customs, commerce and development of the Western Pacific High Commission territories.

Administrative / Biographical History

Herbert Collingwood A. Bryant, OBE (1953), was born in 1908 and educated at Bishop's Stortford College; and Queen's College, Oxford.

In 1931 he entered the Colonial Administrative as a cadet. He was posted to Nigeria where he later held the posts of Assistant District Officer (1934) and District Officer (1941). Bryant was 1st Assistant Secretary to the Western Pacific High Commission in 1948, and acting High Commissioner for periods during 1950 and 1952.
