Signed minutes of Council, committees and AGMs, 1943-45.

The collection forms part of the archive of the British Clothing Industry Association (MSS.222), in which the records of various predecessor and related organisations are contained.

The archive has been catalogued to file level. A copy of this catalogue is available in paper format in the Centre's searchroom, at the National Register of Archives in London and in Chadwyck-Healey's National Inventory of Documentary Sources.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Apparel Manufacturers' Association was inaugurated in January 1943. In 1947 it merged with the British Fashion Trade Association (MSS.222/APW) to form the British Fashion Trade and Apparel Manufacturers' Association (which evolved in 1948 into the Apparel and Fashion Industry's Association (MSS.222/AP).
