Anti-Concorde Project and related material

Scope and Content

Advisory committee circulated minutes and papers, 1969-1974; copies of press cuttings and other circulated material, 1967-1981; subject files compiled by the secretary of the project (mainly copies of press cutttings), 1962-1973; miscellaneous, 1962-2003.

Administrative / Biographical History

Following growing concern about the possible effects of the sonic boom, the project was founded in 1966 to oppose the development of the Anglo-French supersonic airliner. A major feature of its activity was the production of a large quantity of mainly duplicated publicity material, much of it reprinting and commenting on the views of both supporters and opponents of Concorde.
