Administrative / Biographical History
John Cameron Cartwright is a former Labour MP and SDP MP. He represented the Woolwich East area and then the Woolwich area from 1974-1992. Cartwright was one of the founding members of the SDP, having left the Labour Party in 1981. He was the Chief Whip of the SDP and chief defence spokesman of the SDP/Liberal Alliance from 1983, and was President of the party from 1987-1990.
