Scope and Content

An autobiography, being a morbid analysis of his experiences as a child up until 1817. Includes references to the hardships faced by his parents and his preaching work.

Also, a notebook of sermons dating from 1833 - 1837 and a notebook consisting of a series of religious experiences dating from 1846 - 1851.

Administrative / Biographical History

David Elias, born in 1790, was the brother of John Elias. He too was a preacher (ordained in 1835), and his sermons have been described as frightening in nature. He is the author of Yr arfaeth dragywyddol, 1847 and Y gwyliau : eu pechadurusrwydd o dan yr Efengyl, 1850. Latterly, he lived in Pentraeth. He died in 1856.
