Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
This private bank was founded in 1797 in Wallingford, as Wells, Allnatt, Wells & Wells. It was also known as the Wallingford Bank. In 1858 the business was renamed Hedges, Wells & Co. following partnership changes. It was taken over by Lloyds in 1905.
