Scope and Content

At a Court of the Rev. Peter Allix, D.D. of the Cathedral...of Ely and of the Chapter of the 2nd Church Lands of the 2nd Manor, before Samuel Gatward, esq., steward. The homage find that on 6 April 1734 Thomas Merrington and Mary his wife surrendered out of Court by the hands of the Dep. Steward, William Custance, 10 acres of arable land in Sutton, viz. in Churchfield 5 acres and in Millfield 3 acres in Braughill field 1 acre and in Claydon field 1 acre..., late the estate of Robert Peacock, gent., deceased, to the use of James Fern, jr., B.A. of Jesus Coll., Camb., who is present in Court and prays admittance as tenant of 1 acre, formerly Coopers...and of 6 acres formerly Faux and late Mary Everards...And he is admitted. Examined by Samuel Gatward, steward.
