Scope and Content

The notes contain a brief outline of the education system in the Gold Coast up to 1955. Reference is also made to various Methodists working in the Gold Coast at the time.

Administrative / Biographical History

In 1947 E. D. Roberts went to the Gold Coast as officer in charge of publications at the Department of Education. He soon became involved in the inspection of education in the area of Sekondi. In September 1948 Roberst became District Education Officer of the Cape Coast, Saltpond and Winnaba Disctricts and progressed to Provincial Education Officer of the Western Province in March 1949.
